Vancouver Mitsubishi shoppers are more excited than ever for the introduction of the i-MiEV, Mitsubishi’s first all electric car to Harris Mitsubishi. There is no gas tank, no tailpipe and no emissions. Without filling up a gas tank you’ll be saving yourself plenty of cash. You’ll be helping yourself and helping the environment, so for once, everyone wins.
Despite its small outer appearance, the i-MiEV is quite spacious and can seat four adults comfortably. The battery system replaces the conventional engine and is located under the floor of the vehicle, allowing more room for Vancouver Mitsubishi drivers and passengers as well as ample cargo space. The location of the battery also creates a lower center of gravity, which provides a more stable driving dynamic for an added bonus.
The highly efficient motor is smaller than a gasoline engine but still produces high torque at low revolutions. This makes the i-MiEV faster to pick up speed, which is quite possible with a top speed of about 130 kilometers per hour. The motor also provides a sportier, quieter drive without losing power.
The battery is the new engine. Utilizing a high energy density lithium-ion battery helps the i-MiEV fit more power into its small body. Batteries can be installed in a vertical or transverse position in order to fit under the floor and give you more space to stretch. Lithium-ion batteries, like any batteries lose capacity over time, but the i-MiEV battery comes with an 8 year, 160,000 kilometer battery limited warranty.

While charging a car will certainly be a new habit for most Vancouver Mitsubishi drivers, the i-MiEV provides three convenient ways to do so. The recommended charging method is commonly referred to as a Level 2, 240 volt EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) residential charging dock and can be professionally installed. Another method is through a Level 1 120 volt portable charging cable, which requires a dedicated 15-amp circuit. Finally a Direct Current quick charge public charging station will charge your i-MiEV 80% when you’re on the go.
The recommended Level 2 takes only 7 hours to fully charge your i-MiEV. The Level 1 charge takes about 22.5 hours and the Direct Current quick charge takes about 30 minutes. In addition, the Level 2 charge will help owners save even more on operating costs since rates are often lower during off-peak hours such as overnight.
If you are a Vancouver Mitsubishi customer looking to save money and the environment, check out the brand new i-MiEV at Harris Mitsubishi or visit the dealership online at http://www.harris-mitsubishi.ca/ or call 888-440-9471.
